Little Sparks Program

An Inclusive Approach

Little Sparks is a fully-licensed, inclusive preschool program. With low ratios and a personalized curriculum, we’re able to meet the needs of children at any stage of development.

At Spark Learning, we champion and embrace inclusion and diversity. This program is designed to honor the learning process of each individual child and support their education through an organic, play-based approach.

Our charming little schoolhouse offers a comfortable, home-like environment to learn in – with plenty of space to move around and be a kid. And with our Central Austin location, there’s an abundance of valuable learning opportunities both in our own backyard and just around the corner. We work tirelessly to provide rich experiences for our students, which includes finding creative ways to engage with the community around us.

We love our educators and we think you will too. Each of our team members strike their own special balance between being highly qualified, incredibly passionate and naturally nurturing.

With extensive experience and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in child development, early childhood education and/or related fields, your child will be in the most capable and loving hands possible at Little Sparks.

Each of our classrooms also benefit from the presence of highly trained therapists, who facilitate inclusion and ensure that each child is able to reach their learning goals.

We are proud to offer a whole-child approach to education through Little Sparks. To bring our vision to life, we have fully adopted and implemented The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool. We chose this program because it’s comprehensive, evidence-based and features exploration, discovery and play as a way of learning. Our methodology harnesses the wonder of childhood as a tool to develop confidence, creativity and lifelong critical thinking skills.

During each unit of study, your child will be able to:

  • Explore and develop skills in topics such as language and literacy, science, social studies, math, technology and the arts
  • Apply and solidify acquired skills in meaningful, real-life contexts
  • Learn from and build relationships with peer models and children of all abilities
  • Practice higher-level thinking and develop intellectual interests through positive learning experiences
  • Strengthen problem solving skills and use curiosity creatively to find answers to all kinds of questions
  • Develop social-emotional skills such as conflict resolution, sharing responsibilities and working collaboratively
  • Feel your support through family involvement at home and in the classroom

Little Sparks also offers Social Thinking, Handwriting Without Tears and a variety of language development assessments to help hone our guidance of their educational journey.

To bring more educational value our clients, we organize weekly enrichment activities at no extra cost. Sportball, on-site community visitors and off-side field trips are all in our regular rotation. Some of our recent field trips include the public library, Austin Nature and Science Center and the Austin Zoo. These immersive experiences bring an extra layer of fun to the Little Sparks program and help the children use their skills in an exciting and engaging way.

At Spark Learning, we deeply value parent and caregiver involvement and see collaboration as a key part of a child’s learning experience. To facilitate family participation, Little Sparks has an open-door policy and we invite you to visit your child at school anytime you are able.

Some of our favorite ways for families to get involved in the classroom include attending class parties and field trips, stopping by for story time and joining us for hands-on lessons like cooking and art.

Parents and guardians have a formal opportunity to sit down and discuss their child’s progress with the teacher at least every six months. In between these visits, we are happy to schedule meetings by request at any time and are always here to support our families.

For regular communication, we utilize a classroom management software to share information about your child’s day. We’re able to send:

  • Daily reports with information about learning and play activities as well as bathroom, meal and rest times.
  • Notes about any supplies or materials your child may need.
  • Updates on progress made toward learning goals.
  • Photos and videos in real time.

The Little Sparks educational model seamlessly integrates individualized therapy into the classroom setting. Our play-based, natural approach to therapy is fully compatible with The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool, so your child will receive intervention in a meaningful way within a variety of settings and age-appropriate developmental activities.

To blend early-childhood education with intervention, ABA and speech therapy are provided individually and built into your child’s day within the classroom setting. As with all of our Spark Learning clients, each child has a treatment plan developed and overseen by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. Your child’s BCBA will provide daily support in both individual and classroom therapy sessions. To ensure high-quality care, all therapy is provided by Registered Behavior Technicians.

As an extra layer of support, we include training for parents and guardians in our programming. When necessary, in-home therapy may also be provided and built into your child’s weekly schedule.
