Not Sure Where to Start? We’re Here to Help! An Introduction to ABA Therapy

The Spark Learning Blog • Posted by Spark Learning on March 1, 2025

We know that navigating therapy options can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re looking for a fresh approach or just getting started, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

At its core, ABA therapy is all about learning: how we learn, why we behave the way we do, and how we can encourage growth in positive, meaningful ways. At Spark, we bring ABA to life with a natural, play-based approach that keeps kids engaged while making real progress. With a team of highly experienced, board-certified ABA therapists, Speech therapists, and BCBAs, we tailor each therapy plan to fit your child’s unique needs, strengths, and goals.

How ABA Therapy Helps Your Child

Every child’s journey in ABA is unique, but the foundation of our approach remains the same:

  1. We listen to your concerns, assess strengths and challenges, and identify development opportunities.
  2. We set measurable, attainable goals that encourage growth and independence.
  3. We create a customized therapy plan that fits your child’s needs—using data, collaboration, and creativity to make adjustments along the way.

With this approach, ABA therapy can help children:

  • Increase language and communication skills
  • Decrease challenging behaviors like tantrums or aggression
  • Strengthen social skills, including making friends and playing cooperatively
  • Improve focus, attention, and memory
  • Build everyday life skills, like following routines and transitioning smoothly
  • Help parents and caregivers implement strategies at home for consistency and success

The best part? At Spark, learning happens in a natural, engaging, and supportive environment— because kids make the most progress when they’re having fun.

The ABCs of ABA

ABA might sound clinical, but at its heart, it’s about real-life learning. Here’s how it works:

Applied

ABA focuses on socially significant behaviors—meaning we work on skills that directly impact a child’s daily life. Whether it’s communicating needs, making eye contact, or playing with peers, we set goals that help children grow in meaningful ways.

Behavior

We take a deep dive into understanding behavior— what influences it, what maintains it, and how we can use positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors while reducing those that may be interfering with development.

Analysis

Data is at the core of everything we do. Our team of behavior therapists and BCBAs closely track progress, adjusting strategies along the way to ensure therapy is effective and individualized for each child.

Who Provides ABA Therapy?

At Spark, we have a dream team of highly trained professionals who are passionate about helping children grow:

Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) – These experts assess, create, and oversee therapy plans. They hold a master’s degree in fields like psychology, education, or behavior analysis and are licensed in Texas.

Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) – These hands-on therapists bring therapy to life, implementing treatment plans in natural settings like playrooms, classrooms, and the community. They work directly with children every day, guiding learning through structured and spontaneous opportunities.

We believe the best therapy happens when kids feel comfortable, engaged, and supported. That’s why we hire not just for qualifications, but for warmth, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children.
