Social Skills & Group

Spark Social

By thoughtfully grouping them based on age, communication abilities, and social development, we create an environment where meaningful social learning can take place for every child at Spark.

Our group-based approach to ABA therapy helps strengthen essential social skills—teaching children how to communicate, play, compromise, and navigate emotions in a supportive setting. Integrated as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, group-based therapy adds a valuable social component to each child’s individual development, fostering connection, confidence, and collaboration.

Spark Social helps children:

  • Develop play and social skills
  • Compromise and cooperate with others
  • Understand and manage emotions
  • Learn and practice impulse control
  • Expand communication abilities

At Spark Social, we make learning social skills fun and interactive! Each session is designed to help children navigate real-world social situations in a way that feels natural and engaging. From learning how to confidently join a group, take turns in conversation, and collaborate in play, to handling challenges like losing a game —every activity is structured to build social confidence. We incorporate movement, imaginative play, and teamwork-based games to make each session enjoyable while reinforcing critical social skills in a positive, supportive environment.

Each Spark Social group meets once a week, providing a consistent opportunity for children to build relationships and practice social skills with familiar peers. Personalized group matching is at the heart of our program—ensuring children are placed with peers who align with their age, communication level, and social development. If the perfect group isn’t available right away, we’ll keep working towards finding the right fit, because meaningful peer connections make all the difference!

Children learn best from one another, and Spark Social is designed to foster these natural learning moments. Through carefully structured peer interactions, children practice cooperation, problem-solving, and self-advocacy in a supportive setting. Our small-group model encourages friendships, teamwork, and social confidence, helping children carry these skills into everyday life—whether on the playground, in the classroom, or at home.

At Spark Social, our low 4:1 child-to-therapist ratio ensures that every child gets the attention, guidance, and encouragement they need while still benefiting from peer interaction. This balance allows therapists to provide individualized coaching in real-time—helping children navigate social situations, practice new skills, and gain confidence in a supportive environment. With our small groups, we create the perfect mix of structure and spontaneity, allowing social growth to happen naturally through play, conversation, and shared experiences.
