Why Spark?

Mission

The mission of Spark Learning is to improve the lives of children with autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, PDD, and other special needs through Applied Behavior Analysis therapy. We are dedicated to providing each child with the structure, care, and patience required for learning.

Operating Principles

Founder and Director, Kristen Rakun

Kristen has years of experience as a behavior therapist and board certified behavior analyst (BCBA). Before founding Spark Learning, she helped open the doors at the Autism Early Learning Center of Austin LLC (AELC). Kristen’s contributions to AELC as a clinical director were wide ranging and included everything from curriculum development to treatment oversight and in-schools consultations to staff management. Kristen has also taught in a classroom for children with autism at the Moore-Weis Children’s Center of Austin and served as a behavior therapist at Partners in Excellence in Burnsville, Minnesota. At the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota, Kristen studied psychology, and she later earned a Master’s in Special Education from the University of Texas, Austin.
